A 20-year-old man accused of stabbing his father in their West Covina home pleaded not guilty Friday to a murder charge.
Maverick Jacob Jimenez allegedly killed his father, 49-year-old Joey Alfred Jimenez, during an argument around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in their home in the 900 block of Las Rosas Drive.
Police said officers who were called to the home in response to a 911 call found the victim on the floor of the home, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maverick Jimenez was arrested a short time later. Authorities have not released a possible motive for the crime, other than saying the two were involved in an argument.
Jimenez is due back in a Pomona courtroom Sept. 14. He faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
