A 45-year-old man suspected of using his car to strike and injure a loss prevention officer who tried to stop him for allegedly shoplifting gloves from a Burbank beauty supply store Wednesday was arrested.
Investigators allege Chaim Dunbar, of Valley Village, struck the loss prevention officer who tried to detain him about 1:40 p.m. at Ulta Beauty in the Empire Center in the 1300 block of North Victory Place and then drove from the scene, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
The loss prevention officer suffered a leg injury and minor scrapes and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Losacco said.
The car was spotted by a police helicopter and officers stopped it at the intersection of Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards in Sherman Oaks, where Dunbar was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Losacco said.
The gloves were not recovered.
Dunbar’s bail was set at $30,000 and he is due in court on Friday, Losacco said.
