A 47-year-old Brea Police Department officer died Thursday at home, but there were no signs of foul play, a lieutenant said.
When Officer Daniel McKinley failed to show for work this morning, officers conducted a welfare check on him, Brea police Lt. Darrin Devereux said.

“We don’t know a lot,” Devereux said.. “He didn’t show up for work this morning, so we went out to his house and he passed away. He was dead in his home and other than that we don’t have much information,”
McKinley, an 18-year veteran of the force, did not have any obvious medical issues, Devereux said.
McKinley was well-liked among his co-workers and is the son of Pat McKinley, the former Fullerton police chief and city councilman.
