One male was killed and another wounded in a gang- related drive-by shooting in Compton, authorities said Saturday.

The victims were shot about 3:40 p.m. Friday in the 16100 block of South Essey Avenue, Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the L.A. Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Both were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the second was undergoing treatment, she said.

Saldana said a light-colored sedan with an unspecified number of suspects inside was driven slowly to where the victims were standing and multiple shots were fired from the car.

Detailed descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle were not immediately available, Saldana said.
