An armed man barricaded himself inside an Echo Park garage Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of some nearby homes.
Police were dispatched at 2:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of Echo Park Avenue on a report of a violation of a restraining order, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Media Relations Section.
“We did everything we could. He armed himself with a handgun,” Lopez said.
An LAPD SWAT team was sent to the location around 6:30 p.m., Lopez said.
