A 28-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday morning during a single-vehicle crash on the Vincent Thomas Bridge on Terminal Island.
The motorcyclist was later identified as San Pedro resident Greg Chiodo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred a little after 1:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes, said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi. Chiodo, riding a 2009 Aprilia, was traveling at an unknown speed when he approached a curve in the roadway and lost control of his motorcycle. The bike struck the raised concrete roadway edge. Chiodo was ejected and crashed into a metal fence that borders the north road edge, according to a CHP news release.
He then rolled onto the roadway and into the concrete center divider. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m.
