A boy was shot to death in broad daylight Wednesday in Compton while spray painting over neighborhood gang graffiti in what investigators said they believed was a gang-related killing.

Two suspects pulled up in a black sedan about 11:40 a.m. and chased the boy north on Largo Avenue, sheriff’s Deputy Amber Smith said.

When they caught up with him in the 1600 block of Largo Avenue, the driver fired two rounds through the front passenger side window and the victim was struck in his upper body and died at the scene, Smith said.

A deputy said it was against department policy to release the age of a slain minor.

Anyone with more information on the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff’s Information Bureau at (213) 229-1700.

This is the second shooting death in Compton in three days. A man riding a bicycle Monday evening was shot to death in what investigators believe was a targeted killing.
