A 23-year-old suspected of drunken driving, felony hit-and-run and crashing his car into a commercial building in Rosemead before dawn Wednesday, injuring two, was arrested.
The call about the accident in the 8400 block of Garvey Avenue came into the sheriff’s Temple Station at 4:56 a.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Mark Reyes.
The driver fled the scene. Less than an hour later, deputies were called to a scene about a mile away in the 2600 block of Stingle Avenue, where a man was threatening to kill himself, Reyes said.
Deputies realized that the distraught man matched the description of the hit-and-run motorist and arrested Victor Gutierrez-Hernandez.
Gutierrez-Hernandez is being held on $150,000 bail.
Two residents of a house in the rear of the business suffered minor injuries, Reyes said.
