A motorist crashed his car into a commercial building in Rosemead Wednesday, injuring two people, then fled, authorities said.
The call about the accident in the 2700 block of Willard Avenue near the intersection of Garvey Avenue came into the sheriff’s Temple Station at 4:56 a.m., said L.A. Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Reyes.
The car struck five people, critically injuring one and delivering minor injuries to another person, according to authorities and media reports from the scene. The critically injured person was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff’s department.
The driver fled the scene, according to Reyes.
Several people were trapped for a time inside a residence behind the stricken business, authorities said.
Firefighters were trying to remove the car from the building as of 5:45 a.m.
