Authorities seized about 400 marijuana plants being illegally grown at a Walnut residence and arrested two men, the sheriff’s department reported Thursday.
Deputies were sent to the 20200 block of Burnt Tree Lane about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspects’ names were not immediately released.
“An elaborate and dangerous marijuana grow system was discovered at the location,” Navarro-Suarez said.
The plants, in various states of growth, had a street-sale value of about $400,000, Navarro-Suarez said.
“Equipment used in the production of illegal marijuana, and other equipment used to attempt to prevent the odor from filtering out of the residence, were also (found) at the location,” Navarro-Suarez said. “The illegal marijuana grow was precariously wired, creating an extremely dangerous fire hazard due to the large amount of electrical energy, which could become overloaded.”
