The coroner’s office Friday identified a teenager who was shot dead while spray-painting over gang graffiti in his Compton neighborhood, but the assailants remained at large.
Two suspects pulled up in a black sedan about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday and chased 15-year-old Armando Bejar north on Largo Avenue, Sheriff’s Deputy Amber Smith said.
When they caught up with him in the 1600 block of Largo Avenue, the driver fired two rounds through the front passenger side window, fatally striking the boy in the upper body, Smith said. He died at the scene.
The teen was the second person to die in a Compton shooting in a three- day period. A man riding a bicycle was shot to death Monday evening in what investigators believe was a targeted killing.
Anyone with information on the crimes was asked to call the Sheriff’s Information Bureau at (213) 229-1700.
