A suspect was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Compton on Monday.
No deputies were injured in the shooting, which occurred about 3:50 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of South Atlantic Drive, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
Deputies responding to a report of a possible neighbor dispute and a man with a gun found the suspect sitting in a car, Deputy Mike Barraza said.
As the suspect attempted to drive out of the complex he produced a handgun and pointed it at the deputies, Barraza said.
A deputy or deputies then fired upon the suspect, who was struck multiple times in the upper torso, Barraza said.
A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene, Barraza said.
The suspect was hospitalized in unknown condition, Barraza said
