A person was struck and critically injured by a Metro Blue Line train in Compton Monday.

Paramedics took the injured person, described only as a male, to a hospital in critical condition, according to the Compton Fire Department.

The 7:45 a.m. collision prompted authorities to close the Artesia Station in the 1900 block of Acacia Avenue, according to Metro.

Metro ferried passengers around the Artesia Station on buses while an investigation was conducted, and delays of about 25 minutes were reported.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Metro reported that the bus shuttles were being discontinued and Blue Line service was returning to normal, with some residual delays expected through 11:45 a.m.
