Police put out a call Thursday for the public’s help in determining what precipitated a deadly predawn fight in front of the Glendale courthouse that claimed the lives of two men.

The stabbing occurred about 1 a.m. Monday at Broadway and Isabel Street.

“Preliminarily, the investigation has identified Misak Arutyunyan, 30, of Sunland as a victim of an unprovoked attack by the suspect, Alex Littlejohn, 57, of Glendale,” according to a statement released by Glendale Police Department spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

“Arutyunyan was stabbed multiple times, but was able to fight back his attacker,” who died at the scene, she said.

Arutyunyan used a callbox at the courthouse to summon help, according to police. He was rushed to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he died Tuesday evening, Lightfoot said.

Glendale police detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the stabbings to call them at (818) 548-4840.
