Fire damaged an attic at a South Los Angeles middle school Saturday.

The attic was part of a single-story locker room attached to a gymnasium at Los Angeles Academy Middle School, 644 E. 56th St.,  said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters dispatched to the location at 8:56 a.m. had the fire out within 53 minutes, Scott said.

School was not in session and no injuries were reported, he said.
