A yellow stun-gun shotgun owned by the sheriff’s department Compton station that recently was stolen has been recovered and a suspect arrested in connection with the theft, the department announced.
The gun was recovered Sunday by Compton station detectives who arrested a man when they retrieved the gun, according to the department.
The department has not yet reported how and where the gun was found or the name of the man suspected of stealing it.
The stun-gun shotgun was reported “lost/stolen” about 7 a.m. Oct. 3 by a Compton sheriff’s deputy who had put the gun, which was inside a black canvas carrying case, into the trunk of his patrol car at the start of his shift Friday evening.
The unnamed deputy found the gun was missing when he inventoried his equipment, according to the department.
The gun was loaded with four less-than-lethal bean bag ammunition shells and was stamped “Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.”
The department asked for the public’s help to locate the missing weapon. The investigation into how the gun was taken remains ongoing, according to the department.
