A man was shot and killed Sunday while standing near an intersection in South Los Angeles.

The victim was standing near 84th and Main streets at about 4 a.m. when a gunman drove up, got out his vehicle and fired some shots, striking the victim in the torso, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the LAPD‘s Media Relations Section.

The gunman returned to his vehicle and drove away. Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his wounds, Herrera said. There was no other immediate information.
