A 29-year-old man was charged Tuesday with murder in the stabbing death of a fellow attendee at a family gathering in Palmdale.

Angel Garcia was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $1 million bail pending arraignment Nov. 12 in connection with the weekend killing of Daniel Rojas, 28, of Palmdale.

Deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at 8 p.m. Saturday in the 37600 block of Scomar Street. Garcia and Rojas were attending a family gathering when they stepped outside and began arguing, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The argument escalated into a fight, and Garcia allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Rojas several times. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, Saldana said.

It was not immediately known if Garcia and Rojas were related.

Garcia remained at the scene and was arrested by deputies from the Palmdale station.
