Authorities Sunday were trying to figure out what caused a giant blaze that took more than two hours for Los Angeles County firefighters to put out in a large commercial structure in Covina. Two firefighters were injured.
The fire was reported at the single-story, 20,000 square- foot building, in the 1000 block of Edna Place, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.
A second alarm was called in the Saturday morning blaze, raising the total number of firefighters on the scene to 85, Sims said.
The flames were reported out at 10:37 a.m., she said. Firefighters remained on the scene into the afternoon performing extensive overhaul of the wreckage.
Fire investigators and hazardous materials experts also responded, Sims said.
There was no one inside the building at the time of the fire. Two firefighters were taken to hospitals with injuries, which were not immediately described.
