A fire scorched about a half acre of brush Friday above a tunnel of northbound Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway on the edge of Elysian Park.
Firefighters were sent to the 800 block of Academy Road about 4:40 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said. An LAFD helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The flames were extinguished in just over an hour.
A motorist reported the fire, and two lanes of the northbound 110 were closed as a precaution, according to the California Highway Patrol.
