A search and rescue team was being activated Saturday to look for two missing hikers who went missing in the Angeles National Forest near Crystal Lake.

The unidentified hikers, one of whom had been in touch with authorities by cell phone on Friday, were lost in the area near Crystal Lake and San Gabriel Canyon Road (State Highway 39), Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Crystal Hernandez said.

The search was being coordinated through the Sheriff’s San Dimas station, Hernandez said.
