Police say they have arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of setting a fire at a business in Pasadena and making death threats to the business owners.

Karnik Kendrian, who was out on bond after being arrested on Oct. 25 for alleged criminal threats and felony evading, was arrested at approximately 11 a.m. Friday on suspicion of attempted murder and arson, said Lt. John Mercado of the Pasadena Police Department.

Kendrian is suspected of breaking a window and igniting a gas container inside a business in the 1600 block of East Washington Blvd., which caused an estimated $25,000 worth of damage to the structure, Mercado said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the fire at 1:20 a.m. Friday and determined that the fire was intentionally set — allegedly by Kendrian, after he had made threats to kill the owners of the business, police said. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Kendrian was located at his home later that morning and was arrested without further incident, Mercado said.
