Bus shuttles will continue to move passengers between the Rosa Parks and Compton stations along the Metro Blue Line Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, as crews work to repair the tracks and rail systems following a car-train crash at Willowbrook Avenue and 119th Street.
A motorist made what authorities called an illegal left turn onto the tracks at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, colliding with a southbound train whose front car derailed, causing heavy damage to the tracks and equipment.
The vehicle’s driver was injured and taken to a hospital, according to Metro’s Jose Ubaldo.
No one aboard the train was injured.
Repairs were originally expected to take several hours, but Metro announced late Monday that the buses would be employed through the night and into this morning’s commuter rush.
The need for shuttle buses will continue through the evening and Wednesday morning commuter rush periods, Ubaldo said.
