A person was struck and killed Tuesday by a Metro Gold Line train at the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station east of downtown Los Angeles.

The fatality was reported about 11:15 a.m. in the 200 block of North Alameda Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Little Tokyo/Arts District Station was closed, and buses were brought in to ferry passengers in both directions between Union Station and the Pico Aliso Station, said Jose Ubaldo of Metro.

Ubaldo said the closure could continue until late Tuesday afternoon.

The fatally injured person was described only as a male, Ubaldo said.
