A driver wanted for a registration violation led officers on a chase Wednesday night from East Los Angeles to Downey, where he got out of the car and was arrested after a brief search.
Officers began chasing the two-door Infiniti about 6:35 p.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Ditman Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio.
The chase continued onto the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway and Imperial Highway, Rubio said.
The chase continued on streets until the suspect ran from the car in the area of Birchdale Avenue and Springer Street, Rubio said.
He was taken into custody just after 7 p.m., Rubio said.
A sheriff’s air unit assisted the CHP during the chase and search for the suspect after he left the vehicle.
