A fire destroyed one apartment in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles on Thursday, displaced one person and caused a total of $60,000 in damages.
The blaze was inside an apartment in the 700 block of W. 41st Drive, and it was reported at 11:44 a.m., said fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
The department dispatched a total of 27 firefighters to the fire, and they extinguished the flames in in about 16 minutes, according to Stewart.
The fire also spread to a small portion of the attic. No one was injured but one person was displaced and needed emergency housing, Stewart said.
The blaze caused an estimated $50,000 in structural damage to the building and about $10,000 damage to contents, she added.
The cause remained under investigation.
