
A 33-year-old man was killed in Van Nuys when he was struck by a sedan whose driver did not stop to render assistance, police said Saturday.
The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. Friday at Firmament Avenue and Vanowen Street, said Officer Robert Carter of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
The victim, a resident of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene, Carter said.
Police described the suspect’s car as a late-model, white two or four- door sedan. The car sustained some front end damage and a smashed windshield. The car was last seen traveling westbound on Vanowen Street. It was first described as a black Lexus.
A $50,000 reward will be given to anyone who provides information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the hit-and-run motorist, according to an LAPD news statement.
