A man was taken into custody and another suspect was being sought Thursday after a Beverly Hills resident who was home alone reported hearing voices and footsteps.
Officers were dispatched just before 7 p.m. to the 600 block of North Foothill Road, between Santa Monica and Sunset boulevards, Beverly Hills police Lt. Renato Moreno said.
“When our units arrived they immediately detained an individual that was fleeing the location on foot, running away,” Moreno said. “Simultaneous to that a black SUV also left the location at a high rate of speed.”
As officers were at the scene investigating, the first resident’s next-door neighbor reported seeing someone in their back yard, Moreno said.
A perimeter was set up and a police dog was brought in to assist in the search for the possible second suspect, Moreno said.
It was not immediately clear if anything was taken from the first resident’s home, Moreno said.
