A 24-year-old man suspected of killing another man during a fight at their shared Long Beach home was arrested on suspicion of murder early Monday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded about 11:50 p.m. Sunday to a report of a dead man at a residence in the 3500 block of Faust Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined the victim and a male subject had become involved in a dispute at the location,” according to police statement.
“Further investigation revealed the victim and male subject were in a relationship and resided at the location together. During a physical altercation, the victim sustained severe head trauma.”
Paramedics pronounced the 45-year-old victim dead at the scene, police said. His name was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
Arrested at the scene was Timothy Hagler, who was being held at the Long Beach City Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, according to police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
An autopsy was pending to determine the victim’s cause of death.
