A motorcyclist was killed Thursday in a collision involving a mini-van in Gardena.

The collision occurred at 5:19 p.m. in the area of Rosecrans Boulevard and Purche Avenue, said Lt. Mike Saffell of the Gardena Police Department.

The motorcyclist, riding a Triumph, was going westbound on Rosecrans Avenue. The white Honda mini-van, traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue, began to turn northbound onto Purche Avenue and crashed into the motorcyclist, Saffell said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants inside the mini-van were not injured, he said.

It was not immediately known if the mini-van’s driver was cited or arrested.

Gardena police traffic investigators asked anyone who saw the collision to call them at (310) 217-6189.
