Authorities Sunday were trying to determine who was responsible for tampering with the mailboxes of approximately 30 residents in Sierra Madre.
A resident in the 400 block of North Canon Avenue went out for a morning walk at about 7 a.m. Saturday and noticed that his mailbox had been tampered with and mail had possibly been stolen, according to a news statement from the Sierra Madre Police Department.
Shortly thereafter, residents in the northeast part of town found that their mailboxes had also been tampered with.
Sierra Madre Police will be working with the local U.S. postal inspector on the investigation, according to the news statement.
Sierra Madre Police asked anyone who has information or saw any suspicious activity Friday evening or overnight in the northeast portion of the city to call them at (626) 355-1414.
