The clerk of an Arcadia hotel was injured Monday morning when he was struck on the head during an armed robbery, police said.

The robbery was reported just before 2 a.m. at the Santa Anita Inn at 130 W. Huntington Dr., said Arcadia Police Lt. Tom Cullen. The facility is just blocks from Santa Anita racetrack.

“The suspect entered the lobby, displayed a gun and demanded cash,” Cullen said.

The clerk struggled with the suspect and was struck on the head, causing a laceration, he said. The suspect left the hotel with an unknown amount of cash.
