Detectives were searching Wednesday for whomever shot and killed a 49-year-old man in South Gate.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting South Gate police in investigating the shooting, which was reported in the 4900 block of Mason Street at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday.

South Gate Police Officers found the victim shot inside the office area of A-1 Diamond Touch Body Shop. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Witnesses told officers they saw the suspect walk back to the office and then heard gunshots. The shooter then reportedly walked out of the office and then headed east down an adjacent alley.
Sheriff’s deputies said they didn’t know the relationship, if any, between the gunman and his victim.
