A nonspecific but ultimately noncredible threat prompted the evacuation Friday of Terminal 1 that houses Southwest Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport authorities received notification of the threat from the Transportation Security Administration at 1:50 p.m., said Los Angeles Airport Police Officer Rob Pedregon.

Airport police announced about 2:40 p.m. that the threat was deemed by the FBI to be “noncredible” and the terminal was reopened.

Pedregon had no immediate details about how or from where the threat was made. There was no immediate word of what effect the terminal evacuation had on flight schedules, but thousands of passengers may have had their plans disrupted.
