A man was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday morning after being shot in Echo Park during what may have been a dispute between neighbors, and the gunman remained at large, police said.
The shooting outside 528 North Benton Way occurred around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Andre Rainey, the Rampart Division watch commander.
“There was some sort of dispute, possibly between neighbors,” Rainey said. “We don’t know yet.”
The gunman fired several times and then fled the scene. Rainey said, adding that details on his appearance were not immediately available.
The victim was undergoing surgery early Thursday morning, his prognosis unknown, Rainey said.
