A call was made to 911 Monday saying a bomb had been planted in the El Monte Police Department’s parking lot, but an immediate search determined there was no bomb.

The call was made to the station at 1:58 p.m., said El Monte Police Department Crpl. Aram Choe.

“Officers and investigative personnel will be conducting further investigation in an attempt to trace the source of the initial call into the police emergency dispatch center,” Choe said.

Police said anyone with information on the bomb threat can call (626) 580-2114 or write tips@empd.org. Additional call can also be directed at the watch commander’s office.
