Two people were killed Tuesday morning when a SUV slammed into a tree and burst into flames in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The tragic crash at 458 W. 58th St., just east of the Harbor (110) Freeway, was reported just after 1 a.m., fire department spokesman Erik Scott said.
Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the flames but the driver and the passenger were dead at the scene, Scott said.
Los Angeles Police officers did not immediately determine how the crash happened. It was being investigated by the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.
