An 8-hour standoff in West Covina ended Monday when a man came out of his parents’ apartment and was taken into custody, authorities said.
It began at the Vintage Gardens apartment complex at 1950 E. Badillo Street about 9 p.m. Sunday, West Covina Police Lt. Travis Tibbetts said. The man emerged around 5 a.m. Monday.
“We got a call of a man banging on apartment doors threatening to kill someone,” Tibbetts said.
He pointed a gun at arriving officers and ran inside an apartment occupied by his parents, Tibbetts said. He later let his parents leave the apartment.
Apartments around the barricaded apartment were evacuated , Tibbetts said.
No injuries were reported.
