[16:9 Featured] Power Lines

About 1,600 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers remained without power Tuesday due to a weekend storm that brought high winds and at times heavy rain to the Southland.

While more than 100,000 LADWP customers have had their power restored since Sunday’s precipitation, about 1,600 remained without power as of about noon Tuesday, according to the LADWP.

As of midday Monday, about 28,500 customers throughout Southern California Edison’s Southern California service area were without power.

Los Angeles County figures were not available until early this afternoon, when the utility reported that 1,954 customers were without electricity in the county due to problems from the storm.

An Edison representative reminded Southlanders to never touch a downed power line, even if it looks harmless, but to notify authorities immediately.
