A gang-related shooting Thursday night at a Burbank park left a 21-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The shooting was reported about 5:55 p.m. in Lundigan Park, 2701 Thornton Ave., according to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
“Firefighters in adjacent Fire Station 13 heard the sound of shots fired and immediately reported it to the police department,” Losacco said. “Firefighters and paramedics located one victim on Naomi Street, near the park.”
The victim was treated and taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery, Losacco said.
“One male was seen running from the area and entering a black four-door vehicle, which left westbound on Thornton Avenue,” Losacco said.
Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related, Losacco said without elaborating.
Anyone who witnessed or heard the shooting was urged to call Burbank police investigators at (818) 238-3210. Anonymous tips can be supplied through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
