A 21-year-old Los Angeles man was behind bars Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student after escorting her from a party to her UCLA residence hall.
Kvon Devonte Harris of Los Angeles was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of rape as well as forgery and check fraud, according to UCLA police.
Patrol officers recognized him at a coffee shop in the 10900 block of Weyburn Avenue, an area he was known to frequent, police said.
The victim told investigators that Harris sexually assaulted her after escorting her from a house party in Westwood to her campus residence hall on the night of Jan. 28, police said.
“The student told police that the suspect later contacted her,” according to a police. “That allowed police to identify Harris, who was already being sought in connection with the fraud case.”
Harris was being held in lieu of $140,000 bail at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles, according to sheriff’s online inmate records.
