A man who confronted a thief as he left a home next door had his backpack stolen by the suspect, but nothing was taken from the house he had just burglarized, police said.

The backpack theft took place just after midnight outside a home in Chatsworth, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Jace Kessler said.

“Nothing was taken from the house, as far as we can tell,” Kessler said. And there were no injuries.

The backpack thief was a white male, about 5 feet 8 and 120 pounds, Kessler said. He was wearing a black hoodie and a mask on his face.

Anyone with information on the thief’s whereabouts was asked to call the LAPD’s Devonshire Division at (818) 832-0633.
