One man is dead and another behind bars after a fight over money led to a stabbing, Los Angeles police said.
The fight occurred about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue, said Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera of the Media Relations office.
The victim, who was in his 30s, died at a hospital, Herrera said. His name was withheld, pending notification of relatives. The suspect, also in his 30s, was booked on suspicion of murder but his name was not immediately released.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were fighting over money, when (the suspect) stabbed the victim,” a police statement said. “The suspect then discarded the knife inside a local club and fled eastbound on Hollywood Boulevard. Hollywood patrol officers were able to take the suspect into custody on Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue.”
Anyone with information about the case was urged to call LAPD West Bureau homicide detectives at (213) 382-9470. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-247.
