Six people were arrested in an operation conducted by the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force in Pomona, officials said.
The operation was conducted between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday near Holt Avenue between Indian Hill Boulevard and the Orange (57) Freeway, said Lt. David Oliva of the Human Trafficking Bureau.
The task force conducted a supply and demand operation in the 700 block of Indian Hill Boulevard by posting online ads on Backpage, using several undercover female deputies, he said.
The operation netted five men who responded to an ad about various sex acts, Oliva said. Another man was arrested for pimping based on observations of undercover personnel. The men arrested were all booked at the sheriff’s San Dimas station. Their names were not immediately available.
Seven unidentified female sex workers were located during the operation and offered assistance from the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, authorities said.
The task force included the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney’s Office, L.A County Department of Children and Family Services, Pomona Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI and state parole agencies.
