A person was killed at a hit-and-run crash involving several vehicles on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, at the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles Sunday.

The crash at the eastbound freeway, at Santa Fe Avenue, was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 6:06 a.m., said CHP Officer Monica Posada.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 6:50 a.m., where one person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A SigAlert was issued at 6:51 a.m. closing all lanes of the eastbound freeway until about noon, Posada said.
