Authorities Friday released the name of a 57-year-old man who died in his cell at the sheriff’s Lakewood Station jail after he was arrested in Bellflower on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The exact cause of Robert Wayne Olsen’s death will be determined by an autopsy, according to the coroner’s office.

The Lakewood resident was found unresponsive by a jailer about 6:30 a.m. Thursday in his single-man cell at the facility in the 5100 block of North Clark Avenue, where he had been held since Wednesday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies were alerted and immediately began CPR until Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived and took over life-saving measures, according to the sheriff’s department.

“Unfortunately, the inmate did not respond and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:48 a.m. There (were) no obvious signs of physical trauma to the inmate,” according to a sheriff’s department statement.
