Sheriff’s homicide detectives Tuesday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s decomposed body in the trunk of a newer model black sedan in Monterey Park.
The body was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
Sgt. Bill Cotter of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said people reported a strong odor to the Monterey Park Police Department late in the afternoon, leading to the discovery of the remains.
The car was not reported stolen, according to Cotter.
The man’s body was badly decomposed and the identity and determination of race and age are pending the coroner’s investigation, said Sgt. Vincent Plair. There was no suspect information.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with any information to call them at (323) 890-5500.
