Police arrested two women and a man and confiscated about 700 marijuana plants during the raid of a marijuana grow operation in San Gabriel, a police lieutenant said.
The marijuana grow at 864 Commercial Ave. was raided at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday, San Gabriel Police Lt. Riki Nakamura said.
Police were alerted to the illegal operation after they received calls that a U-Haul truck had pulled up to the back of a supposedly vacant building at that location, Nakamura said.
The front portion of the business was operating as a tailor shop and the back had been converted into a marijuana grow, complete with a hydroponic gardening system, according to police.
Police detained Peggy Mui Do, 62, and Phuong Day Ung, 36, at the location, according to the department. Another woman was also arrested after police found she was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. Her name was not immediately available.
