A motorist in Redondo Beach was killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred at 9 a.m. at the intersection Artesia Boulevard and Aviation Way, according to Redondo Beach Police Lt. Joe Hoffman, and involved an Audi and an Acura.

“Information from witnesses to the collision indicate that the two vehicles collided in the intersection forcing one of the vehicles into a traffic signal pole. The driver of that vehicle was ejected,” said Redondo Beach Police Traffic Investigator William Turner.

Paramedics rushed that motorist to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, Hoffman said. The other motorist escaped uninjured.

It was not immediately known whether the Audi or Acura hit the traffic signal pole.

Redondo Beach Police asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at (310) 379-2477, ext. 2721.
