
A 29-year-old Pacoima motorist was weaving in lanes and driving on the right shoulder moments before he smacked his car into the center divider and was killed, CHP officers in Sherman Oaks said Sunday.
Another driver was seriously hurt as his car T-boned the disabled car, which was straddling the left lane of the westbound freeway at Woodman Avenue just after 2:40 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi.
A 2000 Honda Accord was seen weaving in lanes and passing cars on the right shoulder, befoire it turned sharply left, crossed all the lanes and hit the concrete center divider, directly in the path of a 2015 Mazda 3, the CHP reported.
A woman driving the Mazda was unable to stop and hit the Honda Accord in her lane lane. Moments later, a 2006 Toyota Corolla struck the rear of a Mazda, stopped in theleft-most lane.
The man in the errant Honda died in the wreckage. The Mazda driver, a 28- year-old woman from Encino, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was not injured.
